No wager is executed or transmitted by the app.
Horse Racing Companion labels each pick by type (Win, Show, or a three-horse Trifecta box), shows pick confidence, and may estimate the total return for the track’s minimum stake using current odds. It has no adjustable stake control, teller wording, betting-window instructions, wagering account, deposit flow, wallet, credits, betting-operator connection, or wager execution or transmission. Any wagering decision and transaction happen outside the app.
Waiting for live picks?
Live picks normally begin about two hours before the day’s first race. The Races screen shows the expected opening time. Before then, Live Picks Open Later is normal. If the app instead says Live Updates Delayed after that window opens, pull down to refresh; the app hides outdated picks, protects your free day, and keeps checking automatically.

When do live picks begin?
The app starts checking live odds about two hours before the day’s first race. Because first-post times vary, use the opening time shown on the Races screen for that day.
What do Early Pick, Final Pick, and No Pick mean?
Early Pick means current odds, scratches, or other race changes can still alter the pick. Final Pick means the race-day checks are complete. A close race remains visible with Low confidence. No Pick means required information or history is insufficient, a final check could not be verified, or a late scratch leaves no safe time for a replacement. The app shows the specific reason.
Why does the app say Early Pick?
The pick is still being recalculated with odds, scratches, or other race changes. The status area tells you what remains and when the final pick is expected.
What does pick confidence mean?
The confidence meter shows how clearly the available information supports the prediction. Steadier evidence fills more of the meter. It is not the chance of winning, and a confident prediction can still lose.
Reading a prediction
Is the program number the horse number?
Yes. The program number is the number used on track screens to identify the horse. It is not a prediction that the horse will finish in that position.
What do the Win, Show, and Trifecta pick labels mean?
The label states what has to happen for the pick to match. Win means the horse is picked to finish first. Show means it is picked to finish first, second, or third. Trifecta box means three named horses are picked to fill the top three in any order. The label describes the pick, not a guarantee.
Can the app place the bet?
No. The app cannot accept wagering funds, open a wagering account, execute or transmit a wager, or connect to a betting operator. You decide whether to act on a pick and conduct any wagering transaction yourself, outside the app.
How is the estimated minimum-bet return calculated?
The race detail may show a rough estimated total return for the track’s displayed minimum stake using the current odds. It is informational, not an adjustable stake or guaranteed payout. Final pools and the odds at post time determine any actual payout, and the app does not know whether you placed a wager.
Free days and season access
When is a free day used?
Only after you intentionally choose to unlock a Del Mar racing day while live information is available. That unlocks every race on that day’s card.
Is the app free?
Your first three racing days are free and include complete race-day picks. After that, the app may offer one non-renewing pass for the displayed Del Mar season. The app and App Store show the exact price and access end date before purchase, and the pass never renews automatically. It is not a deposit, wagering balance, betting credit, virtual currency, or payment method for a wager. Race cards, odds, official results, and the How It Works page stay free without a pass.
How do I restore a purchase?
Open Settings in the app, choose Season Pass, and tap Restore Purchases on the Season Pass screen. Use the same Apple Account that made the purchase. If no valid pass is found, email support with the app version and approximate purchase date. Never send payment-card information.
